Gay Hip-Hop

Is that a contradiction in terms, given the virulent homophobia that runs through many hip-hop records? Not to a group of self-styled "homo thugz" from the Bronx, profiled in this Village Voice article. These gay hip-hop enthusiasts, also known as "homie sexuals," often exist on the fringes of the rap scene, never quite gaining the acceptance of their straight brethren. But that may be changing, as themes inextricably embedded in gangsta rap, like the "very elaborate sartorial style" and "stylization of the body" condition listeners to a more fluid conception of sexuality.
