Japanese sites: easy pickin's

Site: http://search.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPlate/2000-02/02/152l-0

Don't make cyberliterate Japanese youth angry, or they will come back to bite your site in the patookus. That was the lesson learned this week, as hackers besieged websites run by the Japanese government in unprecedented scale. According to the "graffiti" left behind by the renegades, the hacking was largely in protest of the recent position taken by an Osaka forum that the Japanese were not responsible for the huge loss of life that accompanied the attack on the Chinese city of Nanjing. Obviously a change of official position wouldn't hurt the situation, but the other message being sent is that web security in Old Nippon is clearly not up to snuff.
