The Buzz on The Blair Witch

Since the film's debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 1999, the buzz on the Web, the streets, and the lips of moviegoers has been The Blair Witch Trial. The movie was released with rumors of a true story, a real documentary of three student filmmakers who disappeared in the infamous forest. This clever marketing strategy, combined with the earnest fear portrayed by the students in the documentary, has gripped critics and the public alike. Released early on July 16th to a handful of select theatres across major U.S. cities, the film has been greeted by long lines and frightened viewers.
