Top » Beauty & Glamourcheap nail glue--do you pay the price?Site: http://www.latimes.com/class/employ/healthcare/20000128/t0000088A bitter battle is raging between the nail salon industry and those who support state legislation that has banned the use of a cheap nail glue, MMA, due to health reasons. The USFDA has issued statements concerning the association between this chemical and fungal infections and other problems (some very serious), though left it up to the states to decide what to do with the information. 30 states currently have restrictions on the use of this bonding liquid in nail salons, but the laws have often been ignored. The problem for the nail salons is that the purportedly safer glue, EMA, is much more expensive, and the fierce competition between shops makes this issue a hot topic. The LA Times provides the coverage on this sticky matter, which some even say smacks of racism. Thu, 16 Mar 2000 07:44:07 -0800 Submitted by: Allison Conner
