Well it was only a matter of time, but the world's first openly gay beer is here. San Francisco's microbrewed Queer Beer, or "Brew Q" as its designed-to-play-in-Peoria label proclaims, is a self-styled "proud pale ale" that you'd be hard-pressed to find outside the west coast. The first-person account reprinted at this website gives it low marks for taste, but since when had anyone bought a beer for its flavor? When ypu drink this brew, the author notes, you're making a statement. With its multi-colored labels, inspired by the rainbow hues of the gay flag, Queer Beer is sure to be the hit of the summer party scene.
