salaries going up, up, and away

Site: http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/039/business/Law_firms_up_sala

In case civilians didn't have enough reason to hate attorneys, here's another. The Boston Globe reports on a trend that's on the rise in several major U.S. cities. In an attempt to staunch the flow of newly-minted law-school grads to lucrative dot-coms, some big law firms are hiking the salaries they offer their first-year associates. Skadden, Arps, for example, has just inflated the newcomers' pay nearly forty percent, to a mind-boggling $140,000 a year. So are these legal babes-in-the-woods worth the cash, or should the established firms just let them try their luck in the wild world of the Web? I know I've got my view; take a look at the article and form your own.
