"Saratoga spruced up for 131st season"

Saratoga Race Course, "the queen of America's tracks," opens 7/28/99 for its 131st season. The track, built during the Civil War, has been revamped with a number of modern amenities without compromising its charm. Upgrades include large TV monitors throughout the track, an upgraded sound system, and more picnic tables and chairs. This season's highlight, The Travers, features Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid, as well as a million-dollar purse. Other events and horses are featured throughout this Excite Sports preview.
