a different kind of finance reform

Site: http://robots.cnn.com/2000/US/02/15/aba.payments.ap/index.html

In this world, as we all know, all too often it's "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours." But the American Bar Association has had an itch they've been wanting to scratch for a while--and now they've finally done so, to a decidedly mixed reception. The ABA's new rule states that lawyers can no longer make lush political contributions and subsequently accept government work as a result. Makes sense, right? After all, the "pay to play" plan basically functions like bribery. Then again, there are others who feel that the "chilling effect of this rule on lawyers everywhere will be profound." You be the judge.
