Win 2000, security isssues... Already

Site: http://www.ntsecurity.net/forums/2cents/news.asp?IDF=216&TB=news

Well, it didn't take long. Two fairly serious security holes/bugs were found in the Win2000 OS. While the bugs are not the type of thing that will be heavily exploited, they are still an indication of the problem with being an early adopter of a new OS or any new software. Additional information on one of the bugs is available here: http://www.ntsecurity.net/go/loader.asp?iD=/security/win2kpro2.htm . One has to wonder, however, if the same bugs would have existed if Windows2000 was "open source" like Linux, Apache, etc.. Then again, open source might give crackers the insight they need into the workings of the kernel to do their dirty deeds. Kevin Lee
