Mattel "Wowz" Toy Fair

Toy giant Mattel may be struggling behind the scenes, but you wouldn't know it from its performance at this past week's Toy Fair. ZDNet notes that Mattel's newest high-tech playthings earned high marks at the annual industry gathering. Of particular interest was the company's new robot dog, "Wowzer," which should be unleashed on the public in time for Christmas 2000. Interactivity seems to be the buzzword for the new Mattel releases, which take advantage of computer technology and allow kids to converse with toys in a whole new way.
