A Little Gambling History in the U.S.A.

Site: http://www.wheretobet.com/news/c78.html

Gambling has been around throughout the entire history of the United States. All of the thirteen colonies had lotteries when the country was founded. A lottery scandal in Louisiana caused legal gambling to come to a halt in 1890. Legal gambling lied dormant, except for in Las Vegas, until 1964 when New Hampshire resurrected the lottery. Since then, states have legalized Jai-Alai, horse-betting, casinos, riverboats, standup poker machines, and bingo, in addition to lotteries. However, the religious right has become a strong opposition to gambling and has managed to reverse some of these legalized forms of gambling in different states. The U.S. has not been able to make up its mind on this issue. What will we see in the future?
