Gee, will the G4 woes ever end?

Site: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/0002/ibm.shtml

Apple recently speed-bumped their high powered PowerMac G4 lines "back" up to 400, 450, and 500 MHz. Despite the long-waited availability of the 500MHz line, as Apple Insider reports, Motorola and IBM continue to have major production problems that will prevent massive production of the 500MHz G4 chips and any production of chips faster than 500MHz. Because Motorola has been unable to deliver the 500MHz chips consistently, IBM, as promised earlier, has begun their production based on Motorola specifications. But even the great Big Blue is unable to solve the problems Motorola ran into with their production. This problem with 500MHz chips is a grave concern for Apple. While AMD and Intel is roaming around 800MHz, Apple is producing computers that ran, at best, 500MHz. Granted, the structure of all three chips are different, and thus the Pentium is not that much faster than the Power PC 7500 500MHz chip, the fact remains, the difference in megahertz is rather disturbing. From this latest report, it looks as though the problem won't be solved any time soon.
