Top » Computer: Macnew Macs available immediately, for a changeSite: http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2448233,00.html?chAs one may recall, in recent months, there has been a great gap in time from when Apple introduces a product to when the consumers actually get to see it on store shelves. The latest example of that was the iBook, whose supply was constrained for over three months. It's actually surprising that demand didn't fall because of this; any company besides Apple would have certainly lost customers after three months of delay. But the supply problem was nothing new from Apple. Even before the iBook, Apple had problems delivering the G4 (particularly the 500MHz model), and the iMac. I'm sure they would have had trouble delivering the Power Books had the demand not have been so low, as it has been in the last few fiscal quarters. But as ZDNet reported recently, Apple finally decided this supply constraint wasn't a good policy, and it has made available all new products immediately. Apple introduced new lines of Power Books, iBooks, and the G4s, and, for a change, all of them are available toute de suite at retailers. Thu, 16 Mar 2000 07:43:37 -0800 Submitted by: Joe Sasanuma
