FanFaire is Almost There

Site: http://www.ffaire.com

FanFaire seems like a very cool place for classical music buffs. But the world of classical music is HUGE and FanFaire suffers from a tremendous case of hubris; it seems to think it can cover all of it. Of course, it cannot, so you may notice some holes. But don't let this distract you from some pretty innovative features. A browse through the discography will reward you with wonderful insight into the recording careers of featured artists and composers. If you have RealPlayer or a jukebox you can listen to streaming audio. There is a link to Copland 2000, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the great Aaron Copland's birth. And FanFaire is an e-zine, so you can browse back issues for more artists. But there are some notable omissions. For example, the "music planner" section lists only the Boston Symphony in the "Northeast." I sure would like to know about the Philadelphia Orchestra, Tanglewood, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, New York City Ballet, Wolftrap, etc. They say they will add schedules as they are published...perhaps this site will grow into its potential.
