Townes Van Zandt

Townes Van Zandt is to country music what Bob Dylan is to folk music. A singer-songwriter whose consistently high output never got the recognition it deserves, Townes writes simple songs with lyrics that run much deeper than your usual mainstream country stuff. You might be familiar with two of his songs that became standards: "Pancho and Lefty" (covered by Emmylou Harris, among others) and "If I Needed You."
