What’s the Speed of Law?

While we are experiencing the speed of the Internet lifestyle with faster Pentium computers and high-speed D.S.L. access, the lady of justice stands still, holding a weighing scale unmoved. Stuart M. Benjamin, associate professor at the University of San Diego Law School, argues in the Texas Law Review that the speed of the Internet leaves the courts far behind. From the Reno v. A.C.L.U. case in 1995 to the latest Microsoft anti-trust scandal, the courts have been challenged profoundly to compete with quickly advancing technology. One thing will never change, though--it is called virtue.
