Barbie versus Claudene

Site: http://www.callaw.com/stories/edt0302h.html

Who is Claudene, you might ask? The whole story began in 1990 when Claudene Christian wanted to sell a cheerleader doll through the U.S.C. campus store. Six years later, Mattel learned that Claudene Christian's Collegiate Doll Company had been producing and marketing Barbie look-alike dolls at 80 colleges and universities across the nation. Mattel won the first round, where the C.C.C. Doll Co. paid $100,000 for copyright infringement. The story, however, continues, with two more suits filed by Mattel against the doll company's law firm, Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, for slander and libel based on derogatory statements made on the tabloid news show "Extra."
