The Mighty G4, or is it?

I was never convinced by Apple's statement that the 500MHz G4 was faster than an 800MHz Pentium. But as long as they showed benchmarks which proved their point, I believed them. Well, according to this article, the G4 is now trailing in performance behind the newest Athelon, even using Mac-friendly benchmarks while running Mac-friendly software like Adobe Photoshop. Even Intel will eventually catch up to Apple's so-called superior performance as long as they can increase the megahertz at a faster rate than Motorola can. G4's "superior" architecture won't matter if the Pentium III is out-megahertzing the G4 3 to 1.
