Correcting your compass

Here is a simple program in Basic that you can either copy or download. By making a complete circle on a calm day and tapping the space bar every ten degrees you produce a deviation table. If you don't want to take a computer to sea, or want to help a friend on their boat, call in the information to the computer operator by VHF. If you know the true bearing from points, you could also get the variation. Now you have a corrected compass. Never go to sea without one.
