Microsoft to unveil X-Box

With the astronomical launch of Playstation 2 in Japan last week, Microsoft is now leaping into the video game console wars with all its consumer and software muscle behind it. Chairman Bill Gates is expected to unveil the highly anticipated (and highly secretive) "X-Box" game platform at a gamers convention in San Jose, California this Friday. Like the Playstation 2, X-Box will likely aim to capture more than just the game-playing market (Playstation plays DVDs and will soon connect to the Internet). Will Gates have more success this time around than he did with the failed Windows CE foray into gaming? TechWeb has the story.
