Top » Education: College Life & Higher EdWhat's Bill Gates Got To Do With Higher Education?Site: http://microsoft.com/education/hed/resourceYou may be surprised at the answer. The "Microsoft in Higher Education" website reveals all. No, Mr. Gates isn't trying to monopolize higher education (we have a different operating system - many of us don't have openable windows!). Though one might suspect this is just another thinly-veiled attempt to sell more product, the higher ed page actually does have useful (and free!) information, including sections on information technology, online learning, faculty development, community colleges, and students. Bill apparently has a real vision for education. As the site makes clear, "in The Connected Learning Community, learning isn’t limited by walls, the contents of a library’s shelves, or the credentials of one university’s faculty. The usual barriers of time, distance, convenience and access diminish." To dissolve your walls, visit the Microsoft in Higher Education website. Tue, 16 Nov 1999 13:35:03 -0800
