software companies out to lunch on security?

A leading expert on computer security issues blasted the software industry today for failing to take the necessary steps to fight cyber attacks. Testifying before a congressional panel on Internet vulnerability, Rich Pethia, director of Computer Emergency Response operation at Carnegie Mellon University, said of the recent DoS attacks: "Developers are not devoting sufficient effort to apply lessons learned about the sources of vulnerabilities."
