Their grapes are destined for Hans-Christian Jost's winery in Malagash. The Bennetts cope with temperatures of below -30C when they have to cover the vines, else they do not survive. They say there are easier things to do, but add that the best wine comes from the places where the vine, and the grape grower, have to work hardest. "In a good year," they say, "superb wine can be made from grapes grown in Nova Scotia. In a bad year..." While Mary and Andrew call themselves respectively a vineyard slave and a wine bore, their site is anything but boring.
