Top » Boating & SailingCoastal CruisingSite: http://sailing.info-access.comThis is the site to check before going on that cruise. The first step would be to check the marine observations from weather stations anywhere on either coast. These stations provide current information on wave heights, periods, wind direction and strength. You can click on specific stations from a map or you can enter latitude, longitude and a range and get all the information within that range. The tides and currents section is extremely detailed. Each site provides 10 different times including sunrise and set, slack times and the time and speed of maximum flood and ebb for that day. You can select predictions and get a table or a graphic plot (you pick the colors) for a month. It also provides a bulletin board, a discussion group and connections to several U.S.C.G. sites and the National Ocean Service. For the ambitious or the dreamer, you can view a global analysis wave map and see where waves over 30 feet high are now. This is a site to bookmark and revisit this summer.
