Conversing With Art

Site: http://www.classical.net/~music/recs/reviews/distler/nyman-inter

One of the virtues of the Internet is that it can act as an archive and preserve its own sense of history. Material once available in perishable form can now be retained and accessed indefinitely. The Michael Nyman interview provides one such example. Initially appearing in a 1995 issue of Men's Style, it can still be read five years later in digital form. Nyman is, of course, a contemporary composer who has worked in various mediums, including film and concerts. He is rare in that the musical community continues to celebrate and chastise him in equal measure. This brief conversation might give you an idea why, and could have taken place today. So why not give it a look?
