Gimme that old-time music

Site: http://www.medieval.org/emfaq

There are many early music sites on the Web, and some of them (e.g,. several plainchant pages) are quite overwhelming. This Early Music FAQ is an excellent place to go for clear, accessible information on the subject. The site offers suggestions for beginners, CD links, information on concerts and performers, and also includes a section for specialists (discussing hexachords, pythagorean tuning, early music harmonic structure and Machaut). I especially recommend the Answers to Diverse Questions as a good place to start--find out why chant is called "Gregorian," for example, and how Farinelli's voice was created for the movie bio of the famous castrato released a few years ago.
