NO Help Wanted

Site: http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/story/story_4582.html

There has never--not once in human history--been a shortage of doomsdayers. The end--or at least some horrible decline in quality of life for everyone--has been predicted countless times. And it has never arrived. Not once. Such jitters frequently revolve around technological advances, and our era is no different. The recent explosion of the Internet world and all its related technologies has doomsdayers searching for the spotlight again. This article collects an impressive list of recent worriers, including a Java genius and the leader of the free world. You should be concerned about all of this attention given to the "problem" of technological innovation, because often "solutions"--especially political ones--are far worse than the original problem (e.g., the Vietnam war, the savings and loan debacle, national health care, etc.). Check out this article and related links to see what all the hand wringing is about, and also to prepare yourself with knowledge for when the "helpers" ask for your vote.
