A new system of online payment will be launched next month, and everyone from Wall Street to Silicon Valley will be eagerly awaiting the aftermath. ECharge is a unique online payment system that plays the role of a credit card online without the account numbers. Greg Fleming, eCharge co-founder, explains their plan to buy their way into the market in an article on ZDNet. Offering gift certificates, free plug-ins, and low merchant fees, eCharge hopes to infiltrate the e-commerce market. ECharge plans an aggressive marketing attack against the traditional four credit card associations with a $120 million campaign for the first year, and one of $400 million for the second.
