ONLINE ANGELS PROTECT AGAINST CYBERSTALKERS

Site: http://www.cyberangels.org

Only now are we seniors learning that we’re often too trusting with our personal information online. Because we feel anonymous, we tell chat rooms and Internet service providers things we’d never tell our neighbors. Unfortunately, this often leads to trouble. Online stalkers lurk out there in Cyberland, first annoying you with unwanted e-mail, sometimes escalating to the point of even taking over control of your computer. And you never know their real identity. That’s where Cyberangels comes in. More than 1,300 volunteers from 14 countries patrol the Web around the clock, protecting innocent folks from stalkers and other cybercriminals. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that hundreds of thousands of men, women and children may be cyberstalked each year in the United States. Luckily, in most cases, stalkers disappear once stripped of their anonymity. And that’s what these angels do. With special training and tracing programs, they find and inform stalkers that they’re breaking the law. Bookmark this site.
