In a report published in the March issue of the journal Neurology, researchers at the Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, have shown that a group of elderly men who had taken Viamin C ad E supplements over a number of years, were less likely to suffer from dementia than those who hadn't. "Vitamin E and C supplements may protect against...dementia and may improve cognitive function in late life" said Dr. Kamal H. Masaki. The study did not show any improvement in rates of Alzheimer's Disease. The study, which followed 3385 men over a five-year period, leads the researchers to believe that the improvement is due to the vitamins' antioxidant action in destroying damaging free radicals. The study gives another good reason to consider supplementation, but don't forget that the same vitamins come in good food! Tue, 28 Mar 2000 14:09:01 -0800 Submitted by: John Payne
