Project Appleseed is the "virtual headquarters of Project Appleseed, the National Campaign for Public School Improvement." Yes, they have an agenda, but it isn't a bad one. They ask you, as parents, to pledge to spend at least five hours each semester assisting at school, and fifteen minutes reading with your child each evening. And then they tell you about some of the ways you can help schools to improve, during those five hours. At the Parental Involvement link, you will find that "Project Appleseed has developed effective community engagement strategies that will organize parental involvement, increase school safety, and raise student achievement in your school district." Plant some academic seeds today by visiting Project Appleseed. Thu, 16 Mar 2000 07:30:56 -0800
