Darci Harland, who doesn’t lack enthusiasm about her chosen career, is full of good advice, ideas, and encouragement for teachers. One interesting focus is teacher training, under the titles Education Majors and Getting a Teaching Job. These pages are designed to help new and student teachers by offering practical information, resources, and tips on keeping your sanity, assessment, and motivation. Although designed for the new teacher, it contains advice that veterans would also find useful. Harland devotes a good section of the site to the use of the Internet in the classroom - Teachers and Technology - Not an Oxymoron. What a great title! As in the rest of the site, her explanations are brief and realistic, giving enough information to get you thinking. She doesn’t preach and give the impression she has all the answers. How to use the Internet in the classroom, credibility of information, how to monitor students and prevent them from getting into unsavory sites, and ideas for teacher and classroom homepages are discussed.
