Don't Tear Down These Walls

Babe Ruth played here. So did Cy Young. It's the home of the Green Monster. It's the number one tourist attraction in the city of Boston. It's been called a "national treasure" by more than one writer. It is Fenway Park--and the owners of the team want to replace it with a newer version that is supposedly more fan-friendly. Yes, Fenway isn't perfect. Some of the seats don't face the pitcher's mound (they face centerfield). Some of the seats have obstructed views (behind a pole). The seats are wooden and not very comfortable. This is all true. But Boston has already banished the Garden to the history; why do the same to another landmark? Savefenwaypark.com is dedicated to prevent that from happening. While the site has clearly staked a claim to a heated debate, it does so eloquently. There are suggestions for alternative arrangements with facts to back them up. So much of this country's history has been sacrificed in the name of "progress," let's not let Fenway be another.
