Top » Advertising & Marketing, WebOpinion Research Top Internet BrandsSite: http://cyberatlas.internet.com/markets/retailing/article/0,1323,Opinion Research Corporation has just completed its quarterly mega-study, ranking e-commerce brands by public awareness, and found that the number of people who could name a web-based company surpassed or is approaching 100-million adults for the top four Internet companies. No surprises that the top spot, as one might guess, is Amazon.com, with Priceline.com running a close second. Interesting, in that each has employed quite a different advertising strategy in generating their brand awareness. The top four positions are rounded out by eBay and E*Trade, respectively. These, by the way, are the same top 4 from the previous survey conducted this past April. The wider mass coverage of Priceline.com’s traditional media strategy has moved them into first place awareness (at 43%), over number two Amazon.com (30%), among the 57-million U.S. adults who have yet to use the Internet. Check out the included table listing of the top 17 e-commerce companies in the brand awareness rankings. Also of interest, you may want to click the link on a companion piece, and peruse the results of a joint study by Excite@Home and Ipsos-ASI on the positives of broadband rich media advertising and its effectiveness in generating higher recall and greater propensity to click.
