When one thinks of photography, one immediately thinks of a camera fitted with special lenses, and lots of expense. There is, however, a large group of people who take their images with toy cameras, the best known of which is the Diana. Some people love the Diana especially for its so-called shortcomings: a lack of control, the special graininess of the images, or the sharp contrasts which are produced. The best site I have found in exploring Diana photography is James Malsich's site, HuskuDu.com. It is a visual treat on its own, and he is clearly more talented than some other toy-camera enthusiasts who've created web pages. He has two online galleries--one, a portfolio of his earlier work in black and white, and the other of his more recent shots, all in color. He also has an excellent and entertaining online tutorial for using the Diana. This might be the only incentive you need to pull your treasured toy camera out of storage and start shooting.
