GET QUALIFIED

Site: http://www.wset.co.uk

First you read wine articles in newspapers, then you buy a book or two, and the more you learn the more you realize the extent of your ignorance. So why not do it properly and take a course leading to a professionally recognized qualification? Over 11,000 people each year take Wine and Spirit Education Trust examinations at 250 registered Examination Centers in fifteen countries. The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) was formed in Britain in 1969 as a not-for-profit organization to improve wine and spirit knowledge amongst people working in the trade. Now anyone can study for three proficiency levels, either locally or at home using distance learning packages. The WSET site has all the details. I found site navigation rather poor, and although there is a search facility I would prefer a comprehensive index. But persevere and you'll find the information that leads to an impressive certificate and ample confidence to deal with the snootiest wine waiter. Or maybe even set you on a career in the industry.
