Alan Bernard offers a clean, well thought-out website that is both informative and well produced--a combination that is still something of a rarity on the Web. Fly patterns are the heart of this site and serve as the anchor for all other content. Bernard offers visitors a selection of his favorite patterns, each beautifully presented to visitors as a pen and ink drawing. Bernard encourages visitors to try their hand at tying these patterns and they certainly appear worth a trip to the tying bench. The quality of the drawings themselves is worth the visit--their clean simplicity captures much of the essence of fly-fishing. In addition to the fly patterns, the site also offers extensive fly-fishing links and a page of quotes that provide insight into the history and theory of tying flies for trout.
