CARPE DIEM, CARPE CARPIO

While many anglers turn their noses up at the thought of catching the lowly carp, the sheer size and depth of Carp.net, dedicated solely to carp angling, may leave visitors wondering if maybe they are missing out on a well-kept secret. At this point I must confess I am still not sure I'm going to be planning a carp fishing trip anytime soon, but I did find myself engrossed in reading what the "true believers" had to say. After all, a good fish story is a good fish story. Articles of particular interest included a piece on stalking the brutes with a fly rod and fishing the Niagara Whirlpool for twenty-pounders. Carp.net also features a great many photos of these, well,...really ugly fish. And while they may not be all that much to look at, they do get huge. After spending a bit a time Carp.net it is hard not to soften a bit towards these fish; ugly or not, they have a great number of fisherman hooked.
