The rediscovery of the rich lore of the Negro Leagues has frustrated statistics nuts, but been great for raconteurs. With the exceptions of Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson, no Negro Leaguer is more the stuff legends are made of than "Cool Papa" Bell, the fleet-footed .400- hitting outfielder.
