The Penine Way

Northumberland County is situated on the northeast coast of England. One of its main attractions is the Penine Way, a walk of 270 miles. Starting in Scotland, it goes through Durham, and a third of its route is through Northumberland. It is one of only 12 formally designated National Trails in England and Wales, which take you through dramatic scenery. If 270 miles seems a bit of a stretch, it is well worth just going part of the way.
