CUBAN POSTER ART

Lincoln Cushing, born in Havana, Cuba and currently a student at U.C. Berkeley, has developed this website to document and catalog Cuban poster art created from 1959 to the present. In Cuba poster art is valued for its social and political significance, but also as an art form. The posters--meant as temporary forms of expression--were often produced on poor quality paper with inks of a lesser grade, so Cushing is now committing them to film in an effort to preserve them. Sadly, most of the work is presented in a small format and I found if I adjusted my screen resolution to 640 x 480 I had a better viewing experience.
