The Introductory Reading List of Modern Literature, compiled by John Simmons, is a no-frills list of modern literature and authors, philosophers and major movements, and great novels of history. Containing neither synopses nor commentaries, it nevertheless provides a quick, easy-to-access reference list of recommended and required reading for a sound foundation in humanities. Although classifying Bergson and Freud under "irrational" philosophy may be questionable, the author invites recommendations for additions and modifications to his list, as well as visitor comments.
