Growing up in upstate New York, I can remember looking out across Lake Ontario and seeing it studded with the tiny huts of ice fisherman. Even as a boy I knew these devotees were a breed apart and more than a little bit...well, you know. This website does an excellent job of explaining what the sport is really all about. All aspects of ice fishing are covered, from picking a spot and drilling a hole to catching the fish swimming under the ice. Though the site was created with the novice in mind, experienced ice fisherman will also find a great deal of useful information. There are detailed discussions of tactics and tackle as well as the unique aspects of the sport. Well organized, written and presented, The Colorado Ice Fishing Primer might be as close to ice fishing as some people ever get, but at least those who do visit will stop wondering what is going on inside all those little huts.
