Top » Education: Reference & LearningLIBRARIANS' INDEX TO THE INTERNETSite: http://lii.orgI was a librarian in another life. For years after leaving the profession, I couldn't imagine what had possessed me to become a librarian--that is, until I began doing Internet research. All of those fascinating sources of information on everything under the sun! The Librarians' Index to the Internet captures the excitement of having a world of knowledge at your fingertips, carefully assembled by experts. Created and maintained by Carole Leita of the University of California at Berkeley and 95 colleagues from around the state, the site offers a "searchable, annotated subject directory of more than 6,200 Internet resources" of interest to public library patrons. You'll find topics ranging from Art to Women's Studies, including images and Internet search tools, and you can subscribe to a free weekly update. This site is more like a huge bibliography than a Web search tool. Entries must meet posted criteria for content, authoritativeness, scope, and design. I love this site. It almost makes me remember why I went to library school. Mon, 15 May 2000 06:04:21 -0700 Submitted by: Lois Ambash
