TEACHING CHILDREN ABOUT THE WHITE HOUSE

Explaining politics to children is difficult, but teaching them about the presidency and the history of the White House can be fun. On this website, presidential pets Socks and Buddy guide children through an interactive tour which offers the history of the White House, profiles of children who have resided in the White House, and biographies of our current President and Vice-President. There is also a section dedicated to presidential pets, past and present. A good deal of information is included in the summaries, which parents or teachers may also find enlightening. After completing the tour, children can even send a message to the President, who promises to respond with a snail mail letter.
