SANAI, EGYPT--A LAND OF HISTORY

When the Israelites were wandering through this "great and terrible wilderness" for forty years, it's unlikely that they gave a moment's thought to what great national parks could be built in the area or whether the scuba diving was really rad in the Red Sea. That was then, this is now, and Sinai, Egypt, has a lot to offer today's tourist. St. Catherine's Monastery, founded in 547 AD at the base of the mountain where Moses reportedly received the Ten Commandments, has on display icons and mosaics created by monks in the tenth to fifteenth centuries. Excellent birding, camel-riding, and--yes--great diving are all waiting for you in Sinai, and this site is a great place to start exploring the possibilities!
