WORLD'S LARGEST GREENHOUSES TAKING SHAPE IN CORNWA

Site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/newsid_748000/748315.stm

The Eden Project, a massive greenhouse construction undertaking being completed in an old china clay pit outside St. Austell, England, will be partially open to the public May 22. Intended in part as a tourist draw for an economically depressed part of England, this project will eventually house plants from all over the world and will serve as a base for botanical research. From above, the greenhouses look like insect eyes, with 728 hexagonal windows made of a transparent, foil-like substance that is lighter than glass. The scaffolding utilized in the steel frames' construction has already gained two entries in the Guiness Book of World Records.
