Although the term "turntablism" was coined only recently, the role of the turntablist is integral to hip-hop's birth and development. And yet rappers tend to receive most of the attention and credit. Scratch beneath the surface, though, and you'll find that DJs remain instrumental to hip-hop's continued growth and success. Turntablism.com turns the tables on rap by reminding everyone that without the manipulation and creation of sound, hip-hop might as well be called flip-flop.
