WHEN RELIGION AND BASEBALL MET

Site: http://www.geocities.com/~peppergame

In the first half of the 20th Century, there was a barnstorming baseball team created on the premise of spreading the good news of Judaism. The House of David baseball team was comprised solely of members of a Jewish colony based in southeastern Michigan. They took on virtually all of the Major League teams, winning an estimated 75% of their games. The site features a history of the team and terrific photos of players--replete with full beard and curls--some of whom weren't even Orthodox and were required to "dress" for the part.
