Asatru is one of the oldest-known pre-Christian religions, its roots dating back to an unrecorded time. It was the belief system of the Norse, or the people of Northern Europe--what is now known as England, Scandinavia, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. This Viking religion is polytheistic in nature, meaning there is belief in multiple gods and goddesses. It also does not subscribe to the Christian concept of "original sin," or being born a sinner and spending your life attaining forgiveness. Worshippers of Asatru are not slaves to their gods or goddesses, but instead pay respectful tribute to them by living their lives with strength, courage, and joy. Is Asatru still practiced today?
